At 6’0” and 200 pounds, Payton Zigga is a powerful presence on the defensive line for New Plymouth High School. Known for his leadership, hard work, football intelligence, and coachability, Zigga is a cornerstone of the team’s defense as they prepare for the Boise Dream Football Classic. As a senior in the Class of 2025, Payton is ready to take on the challenges of his final high school season and lead his team to success.
A Challenge Worth Pursuing
Payton’s football journey began as a personal challenge—a way to push himself and work toward a goal. His father, who also helped coach, played an important role in inspiring Payton to take up the sport and work hard to improve.
"I started playing to give myself a challenge and a goal to work for. And my father influenced me by helping coach," Zigga explains. This desire to challenge himself and continuously improve has shaped Payton’s approach to football, where he excels as a defensive leader and a solid tackler on the line.
Goals for the Season: Hard Work and Playoff Aspirations
Payton’s personal goals for this season are simple but powerful: work as hard as possible to improve every day. His commitment to his team is equally strong, as he aims to help lead New Plymouth to the playoffs and make a lasting impact.
"My personal goals would be to work as hard as I can," Zigga shares. "And our team goal is to make the playoffs." As a leader on the field, Payton is determined to push his teammates to reach their full potential and create a cohesive unit that can compete at the highest level.
A Dedicated and Creative Student
In the classroom, Payton is known for being a good listener, respectful, creative, and hardworking. His teachers appreciate his dedication and positive attitude, qualities that he brings to both his academic and athletic pursuits.
"Athletic honors would be second-team All-State and second-team All-Conference," Zigga adds, highlighting his achievements on the field.
The Thrill of Playing at Boise State University
The opportunity to play at Albertsons Stadium, home of the Boise State Broncos, is an exciting moment for Payton. He is looking forward to the experience of competing on the blue turf and taking part in such a prestigious event.
"I’m pretty excited to play at BSU and think it will be a fantastic experience," Zigga says with enthusiasm. With his leadership, hard work, and dedication, Payton Zigga is ready to take on the Boise Dream Football Classic and help lead New Plymouth to a successful season.
